The film switch consists of several components that work together to ensure its functionality. Let’s take a closer look at the basic structure of a film switch.

Panel: The panel serves as the outer layer or “coat” of the membrane switch. It not only arranges the keys in a logical manner but also enhances the overall appearance of the switch. The panel plays a crucial role in providing signage and acting as the keys. Therefore, it is essential to select a material that possesses qualities such as high transparency, excellent ink adhesion, elasticity, and resistance to folding.

Up and down circuit: The up and down circuit forms the electrical components of the film switch and serves as the “off” and “key” functions. The properties of these circuits directly impact the performance of the switch. Typically, a layer of conductive material is printed onto a thin film to create the upper and lower circuits. Both circuits are necessary for the closure of the switch and are usually within a thickness range of 0.05-0.175mm. The commonly used material for this purpose is 0.125mm PET.

Surface glue, isolation layer, bottom glue: These three layers consist of double-sided adhesive materials, each with a specific name based on its position within the switch structure. The thickness of these adhesive layers varies according to their respective levels, which primarily depends on the switch’s thickness and the required operation force of the keys.
